Dungeon mechanics
As with the other Frigost bosses, on top of being invulnerable, the lower Grohlum's HP, the harder it hits.
Grohlum hits with lifesteal in a line (like the Pandawas' Pandatak). Damage ranges from 500 to 800.
On top of the lifesteal, it can heal itself for around 1,500 HP per turn.
If you try to remove its MP, it will gain 8,000 fixed resistance in every element.
Every 2 turns, it re-summons the last monster killed.
To make the boss vulnerable, you must first wait for a killed monster to be resurrected by Grohlum. Grohlum will then cast "Hoarfrost" on that monster (make sure to check that the resurrected monster actually has the effect). To make Grohlum vulnerable, you then need to place the resurrected monster in melee with the boss, then kill it. This will make Grohlum vulnerable for 2 turns.
The strategy is to clear all the mobs while saving the Gobshell for last. Since it has no MP, it is much easier to position than the other monsters. Still watch out for its lines, even though the Gobshell does not explode on its first turn.
Achievements
Versatile
One of the simplest achievements among the end-game dungeons, but you still have to remember it. The fight can drag on, so remember to remind the whole team to focus on the achievement.
Blitzkrieg
Two strategies for this achievement.
The first is to one-turn Grohlum with a combo such as the Masqueraider's Masquerade and Iop's Wrath. Or with a wall of bombs from a Water Rogue.
The second strategy is more subtle but can be done with a much less restrictive team. The idea is to have one character who can apply erosion and one character who can remove MP.
Each time Grohlum is vulnerable, you start by removing MP from the boss so that it gains 8,000 fixed resistance in every element.
Then you apply erosion and attack the boss. Since erosion is not affected by fixed resistance, Grohlum's maximum vitality will drop without you dealing any real damage.
This way you can lower Grohlum's maximum vitality down to a threshold where you think you can one-turn it. You can bring it down to 1 max HP if you wish.
Duo
A fairly tricky achievement, mainly because of the turn limit.
Some team setups such as Cra/Pandawa can pull it off fairly easily with autowin strategies, however. For a setup that can work with any class, an Earth/Power Iop paired with another class is quite effective.
The idea is to use the Iop to position the resurrected monster.
A ranged Neutral melee weapon can be handy for taking out the Bomma quickly.
I recommend applying as much erosion as possible with Pressure, then using the Sword of Fate along with Duel to deal massive damage thanks to the erosion inflicted.
